Mr Silas Gimba
MBBS, MSc, MBA, FRCOG, MSCP
Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
Mr Silas Gimba is a Consultant Gynaecologist and menopause specialist at HMT St Hugh’s Hospital in Grimsby, with over twenty years of NHS consultant experience. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, appears on the British Menopause Society’s practitioner register, and holds Menopause Society Certified Practitioner status in the United States. His particular focus is complex menopause: the cases where standard treatment has not worked or where other medical conditions complicate the picture.
Menopause care has improved considerably, but the women who fall outside the straightforward path often find themselves stuck. A family history of breast cancer, a previous blood clot, migraines that hormones seem to make worse, or symptoms that have not responded to what was prescribed. None of those means nothing can be done. It means the decision needs someone who can weigh the specific risks in your case rather than apply a general rule.
About Mr Gimba
Mr Gimba is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, with over twenty years of consultant experience. He holds MBBS, an MSc, an MBA and Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
He holds menopause accreditation in both the UK and the United States. He appears on the British Menopause Society’s register of menopause practitioners, and he is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, an accreditation awarded by the Menopause Society in the United States following a formal certification examination. Relatively few UK clinicians hold the American credential.
His NHS special interests are menstrual and pelvic pain disorders, gynaecological ultrasound and infertility.
His menopause practice focuses on midlife health and hormonal change, and particularly on complex and higher-risk cases: women with a family history of breast cancer, heart disease or osteoporosis, those with a history of blood clots or a significant clotting risk, hormonal headaches and migraines, premature ovarian insufficiency and early menopause, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. He treats symptoms holistically rather than in isolation, and his approach is to set out the options available in an individual’s specific circumstances.
Alongside his clinical work he is Director of Postgraduate Medical Education, with responsibility for the training of more than 250 doctors in training across all hospital specialties.
