Gold Award for Patient Safety and Data Quality at St Hugh’s Hospital
We are proud to share that we have been awarded the Gold National Joint Registry (NJR) Quality Data Provider Award for 2024, recognising our commitment to patient safety and excellence in data quality. This achievement builds on the silver status awarded to us in 2023, reflecting our ongoing dedication to delivering the highest standards of patient care.
The NJR monitors the performance of hip, knee, ankle, elbow and shoulder joint replacement procedures, helping to improve clinical outcomes for patients. It also provides valuable feedback to orthopaedic clinicians and joint replacement implant manufacturers to promote best practices across the sector.
At St Hugh’s, our team of orthopaedic specialists offer a wide range of treatments, including knee replacements, ACL reconstructions, shoulder replacements, and carpal tunnel release, providing life-changing care for patients.
One such patient, Angela Dunkerley from Scunthorpe, recently underwent a total hip replacement at St Hugh’s. She shared her experience:
“After months of debilitating pain, I am now on the positive road to recovery and can look forward to regaining my mobility and enjoying a much-improved quality of life. Every single member of staff I met at St Hugh’s was so pleasant and respectful, which made the experience far less stressful than I had anticipated.”
The Gold Award reflects the outstanding results of a national data quality audit, which evaluated St Hugh’s on patient safety, the quality of care, and the value of joint replacement surgery. This recognition confirms our position as a trusted provider of orthopaedic care.
Robyn Dolan, operating Department practitioner (OPD) at St Hugh’s, who played a key role in achieving the Gold award, said:
“Receiving the NJR Gold Award is a fantastic accomplishment for our hospital. It’s a testament to the dedication of both our clinical and administrative teams. Patients who choose St Hugh’s for their joint replacements can trust they are in the hands of an experienced and highly skilled team.”
Ellen Colley, Head of Clinical Services at St Hugh’s Hospital, added:
“We are incredibly proud to have earned this recognition. It highlights the commitment of our team to ensuring [patient safety and the accuracy of our data, which is central to delivering exceptional care. This award reflects the passion and expertise that underpins everything we do at St Hugh’s.”
At St Hugh’s Hospital, we remain committed to continuous improvement, ensuring that every patient receives safe, high-quality care supported by industry-leading practices.
