Musical Memories Choir

Following a very successful Musical Memories project funded by HMT at our sister hospital Sancta Maria in Swansea, St Hugh’s approached our partners; Friendship at Home to offer funding for a similar project in the Grimsby/Cleethorpes area.

A pilot project was set up with the choir meeting at St Aiden’s Community Church in Cleethorpes every Wednesday morning since July 2017 but has now moved to the Annie Chapple Centre in the town on a Friday morning with the scheme being a permanent session.

Groups of this nature have a significant social effect on older people & the effect of music is well evidenced in having a positive effect, particularly in relation to dementia.

The choir group are currently preparing to deliver their first public appearances in the new public information unit in Freshney Place shopping centre in Grimsby during December.
