The organisers of the fully booked Ørsted Great Grimsby 10KM, taking place on Sunday, July 18 and supported by St Hugh’s Hospital, are on the look-out for volunteers.
Neil and Nicola Pattison, the couple behind Tape2Tape, who stage the popular event, said: “Our races would not be possible without the help of many big-hearted volunteers giving up their time to help. We have lots of different community groups and charities who join us at our events. We also work with local students who gain valuable experience endorsing their CV.
“If you are interested in finding out a bit more or are able to help with handing out water, marshalling on the course, handing out race numbers, providing refreshments for the volunteers, then contact us.”
We’ve been involved in the event for some years now, and this year’s event, in light of the coronavirus pandemic, is a mix of a real race and a virtual one.
Participants’ safety is paramount to Neil and Nicola, who said: “We spoke at length to the local Public Health England (PHE) team to discuss the current situation in relation to Covid-19 and how any guidance may affect the race. Safety is our number one priority and we will take whatever action is required to make the race a safe and enjoyable one for all.
“While there has been a slight increase in reported cases in North East Lincolnshire, the nature of these and where they originate from do not give any cause for concern about the race plans. It is an outdoor Covid-19 secure event, with a rolling start which will ensure social distancing.”
The PHE team is asking participants to consider taking two lateral flow tests in the week before the race. Find out more here: https://tape2tape.co.uk/2021/06/23/orsted-great-grimsby-10km-covid-update/
