Volunteers still needed!

The search is still on for volunteers to help out at this year’s St Hugh’s Hospital Cleethorpes Family Fun Run.

You might remember that we issued an appeal on behalf of Tape2Tape, the race organiser, at the beginning of August… well, while some people have stepped up and got on board, Tape2Tape still has volunteer spaces to fill.

The tasks on the day – Sunday, September 18 – for volunteers are not difficult; they are there to make sure the event runs smoothly for everyone involved. The role includes helping to hand out water to participants, marshalling the course, or handing out race numbers before the start.

To volunteer with the Tape2Tape, email lucy@tape2tape.co.uk today or visit tape2tape.co.uk/volunteer/ and fill out the online form.

The award-winning Tape2Tape was set up by Neil and Nicola Pattison in 2011, organising races from runners’ perspectives, and we have been proud supporters of them since the very beginning.

Hot on the heels – or should that be trainers – of our fun run as part of the Orsted Great Grimsby 10k in June, the St Hugh’s Hospital Cleethorpes Family Fun Run takes in some of the best scenery around along the resort’s promenade.

It forms part of the ABP Humber Coastal Half Marathon and 5k, but ours takes place over a shorter one-mile route along the wheelchair and pram-friendly Cleethorpes Coastal Footpath. Expect stunning scenery, famous landmarks, and a fitting finish line under the arch on the promenade with a medal as a prize.

So, if you would rather run (or walk, skip, hop… however you want to complete it!) in the event than volunteer, there’s still time to sign up – but hurry, registration closes soon.

As reported, the first 200 people who’ve signed up get free entry, with those after that paying a reduced fee of just £2.50, to raise money for the RNLI. There are just four free places left, so don’t delay and register today! The seafaring charity has looked after the safety of people using and visiting Cleethorpes for years, and work is currently ongoing to build a new lifeboat station there.

The St Hugh’s Hospital Cleethorpes Family Fun Run starts at 10am on King’s Road, Cleethorpes, a five-minute walk from the nearby leisure centre. To enter, or for more information and route details, visit resultsbase.net/event/5526 and tape2tape.co.uk/events/st-hughs-hospital-cleethorpes-family-fun-run-2

Registration closes on September 15.
