World Blood Donor Day
Today’s World Blood Donor Day (WBDD), now in its 16th year, to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank people for their life-saving donations.
Here’s our very own Gary Allington ‘in the chair’, making his contribution to NHS Blood and Transplant… they’re the team behind the vans and posters you’ll often see around and about when a session is taking place.
Gary has been giving blood for some time now – this one is his 44th – and is one of an army of very important people up and down the country providing life-saving pints.
WBDD is organised on June 14 each year by the World Health Organisation, the International Federation of Red Cross, and Red Crescent Societies.
