250 free fun run spaces
Hurry! We are giving away 250 places in the St Hugh’s Family Fun Run being held this summer.
The run takes place on Sunday, June 5 from 9am – a 1km route around People’s Park, Grimsby, for all the family to get involved in. As reported, it’s part of the ØrstedGreat Grimsby 10k, organised by Tape2Tape, and we are proud to once again be involved this year.
We and Tape2Tape are giving away 250 free places. Once these have gone, families can take advantage of a reduced entry fee. Finishers each get a medal, sweets, and a drink, so come along and get involved, cheer GY10k participants over the finish line, and enjoy the activities, stalls, and music on offer, too.
Gary Allington, facilities manager and community officer at St Hugh’s, said: “As ever, St Hugh’s Hospital is proud to sponsor the Family Fun Run. It’s great that we can once more enjoy being outdoors together, raising money for such vital causes in our community.
“Part of our ethos at St Hugh’s is about encouraging people of all ages to get active and see the benefits that has to health.
“It’s proven that running and jogging has many positive effects to our bodies, as well as our mental well-being. This type of exercise helps to build strong bones and strengthen muscles, it burns calories and can help maintain a healthy weight, and any activity that helps to improve cardiovascular fitness is great.
“The brilliant thing about the fun run is that it gives families the chance to participate together, as a group. Getting children and young people involved in events like this can lead to a lifetime of participation and good health and well-being habits.
“The route isn’t as long as the Great Grimsby 10K, so it’s a good place to start if you’ve never done any running or jogging before. You complete it at your own pace, in your own time, at whatever speed you feel comfortable with. It’s also ideal for the opposite – those who might have competed in road races over the years and are now looking for something to do with the grandchildren.
“With 250 free places up for grabs – and a medal for finishers, too – this is all about participation, community, and togetherness… and a fun day out raising cash for charities who need support more than ever following the pandemic. We look forward to seeing you there!”
