Triobike: Connecting older people with their communities
Last week we were on our bikes for the St Hugh’s Cycle To Work initiative…
this week we’re back in the saddle, but through the Cycling Without Age project – a scheme we got involved in some time back to help reconnect older people with their communities.
Alongside NAVIGO, we invested in two triobikes – battery-assisted trishaw cycles operated by ‘pilots’ who get older people out for a spin in the fresh air.
We work with Friendship At Home to use our triobike, and although the pandemic put a halt to things, we’re back on the road this week!
We’d like to say a big thank-you to Cleethorpes Cycle Hub for repairing our triobike over the weekend, and to TransPennine Express and the booking office at Cleethorpes Railway Station for storing it through the pandemic. They have played their part in getting the triobike back into our community… so thank you!
If you think you could volunteer as a triobike pilot, get in touch with Friendship At Home on 01472 602500. Full training and support will be given.
