Mum and son run Great Grimsby 10k
Putting ‘great’ into the Great Grimsby 10k…
Mum and son running duo Tina Fletcher and Jack Coney have done their bit for local charities and taken part in this year’s GY10K race by completing it virtually.
Jack has been an apprentice accountancy assistant with St Hugh’s since February 2019. He and Tina were more than happy to get involved with the annual race that the hospital sponsors.
“We haven’t completed an event this year, so it was a chance to set a goal and have something to work towards,” he explained.
“There was no specific training – we run regularly anyway, although we’ve both suffered with injuries this year, so that’s set us back.
“I have a fairly active family. We all enjoy getting out and doing something, whether that’s running, swimming, or cycling. I spend quite a lot of time out on my bike, either training, competing, or riding with my local club, the Brown Cow Buckaroos.”
The Great Grimsby 10K is organised by Tape2Tape, and St Hugh’s has sponsored it since its inception in 2016. Entries are already open for next year’s race – click here for more information.
If you’re thinking about entering, or getting into running, Jack, 21, from Louth, added:
“Some advice I would give is to listen to your body, get a good pair of running shoes and then build up to your race distance over time. Most importantly – enjoy it!”
