Hurry! Get your running shoes on…

Time is running out to secure a FREE place in one of the most scenic fun runs of the year.

The St Hugh’s Hospital Cleethorpes Family Fun Run is taking place on Sunday, September 18 as part of the ABP Humber Coastal Half Marathon and 5K.

The one-mile route along the Cleethorpes Coastal Footpath takes in some seriously stunning scenery, and is wheelchair and pushchair-friendly, too – and best of all, if you act quickly, you can get a place in it for free!

As reported, we have once again partnered up with race organisers Tape2Tape to host a shorter, family-friendly route suitable for people of all ages, in tandem with the half marathon.

Already, 170 of the 200 free places on offer have been snapped up – so don’t hang around if you want to take part… sign up today. If you miss out on a free place, entry is just £2.50 per person. The benefitting charity from this year’s half marathon is the RNLI.

Gary Allington, facilities manager and community officer at St Hugh’s Hospital, said: “This route is quite simly stunning, offering some of the best scenery on this part of the east coast.

“Just imagine it… the wide open skies, the sweeping beach, the awesome estuary, and that feeling of being outdoors, in the open air, blowing the cobwebs away… can you beat it?

“The route is point-to-point along the coastal footpath and only a mile – with the views on offer, that mile will whizz by in a flash, and you’ll want to do it all over again. It’s long enough to have fun and give your legs a good stretch, but it’s also short enough to be manageable for anyone, of any age and ability. There’s no lower or upper age limit, or a requirement to run, so you complete the course how you want to and at your leisure.

“The finish line is in exactly the same place as the half marathon and 5K, underneath the imposing archway on Cleethorpes Promenade, and you get a medal, sweets, and a drink when you finish, too.”

The race starts at 10am on King’s Road, Cleethorpes, a five-minute walk from the nearby leisure centre. To enter, or for more information and the route details, visit and
