Recognising cosmetics excellence

We are delighted to announce that we have made it to the final of the Aesthetics Awards 2022, in the Best Surgical Result category.

The annual awards scheme brings together the very best in medical aesthetics, recognising achievements and services to the profession and industry.

The nomination is for the work at St Hugh’s Hospital of consultant surgeon Mr Muhammad Riaz; in particular, his signature ‘R’ facelift. Patient Katherine Taylor underwent the procedure last year, and it’s her transformative experience – which she described as the best decision she’s made – that the awards nomination is about.

We spoke to Katherine in depth about her journey, from having what she described as ‘baggy’ eyes ever since childhood to being regularly complimented on her fresh-faced appearance. You can read the full interview here and see exactly why Mr Riaz has made it to the Aesthetics Awards 2022 final!

Mr Riaz has worked as a consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon since 2001. Although he offers a full range of cosmetic surgery, he has a special interest in facial rejuvenation, and created the ‘R’ facelift with the needs of his patients in mind. On a personal note, Mr Riaz is a surgical team member of a local charity and travels twice yearly to perform cleft lip and palate surgery on babies and young children in under-developed countries.

“The awards scheme is known as the ‘Oscars of Aesthetics’. It is an honour to be recognised by fellow professionals, peers, and patients as being among the best in medical aesthetics, and our nomination really is a celebration of that.”

An expert panel of judges will consider the finalists, which have been announced in the January edition of the Aesthetics journal. We are one of only four nominated in the Best Surgical Result category. The ceremony takes place in London on March 12, following the two-day Aesthetics Conference & Exhibition.
