Ear Wax Removal (Coming Soon)
Private Ear Wax Removal
Ears feeling blocked?
Muffled hearing, discomfort or a feeling of fullness in your ears can sometimes be caused by a build-up of ear wax.
At St Hugh's Hospital, our private ear care service provides ear assessment and wax removal by an experienced registered nurse.
Excess ear wax can sometimes cause:
Reduced or muffled hearing
Ear discomfort
A feeling of fullness or pressure
Tinnitus or ringing
There can be other causes for these symptoms, which is why we’ll examine your ears before deciding whether wax removal is appropriate.
Depending on your ears, medical history and assessment, your nurse may use ear irrigation or manual removal techniques.
Ear irrigation
Warm water is carefully introduced into the ear canal to help remove softened wax.
Manual removal
Specialist instruments may be used to manually remove suitable wax.
The appropriate technique will be determined following examination.
Ear assessment and wax removal – £75
Ear consultation only – £30
For example, where examination shows there is no wax requiring removal.
