Dr Prakash J C Gowda is a Consultant Dermatologist at HMT St Hugh’s Hospital in Grimsby. He treats the full range of adult skin conditions and has a special interest in dermatological surgery, including the assessment and removal of moles, skin lesions and skin cancers. He also holds an NHS consultant dermatology post in the region.

Skin problems are unusual in that you can see them, which makes them both easier to worry about and easier to put off. A mole that looks slightly different from last year, a patch that will not settle, a lump that has appeared and stayed. Most turn out to be harmless. The ones that are not benefit enormously from being caught early, and either way a proper look under magnification and a clear answer is a short appointment rather than a long wait.

Dr Gowda holds MBBS and an MD in Dermatology, along with a Diploma in Dermatology from the University of Glasgow. He is a consultant dermatologist with Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, working across the trust’s dermatology service.

His particular interest is dermatological surgery. That covers the assessment and removal of moles, cysts, skin tags and other skin lesions, and the excision of skin cancers, on the head and neck as well as the trunk and limbs. Where a lesion is removed, it is sent for laboratory analysis so that you get a definite answer rather than an opinion.

Alongside surgical work he manages the full range of medical skin conditions, from acne and eczema through to psoriasis and rosacea. He offers face to face, video and telephone consultations.
