GP with a Specialist Interest in Women's Health, Menopause Clinic Lead

Dr Sreekala Seepana leads the menopause clinic at HMT St Hugh’s Hospital in Grimsby. She is a GP with a specialist interest in women’s health, holding an MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology alongside MRCOG, MRCGP, the Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare and the British Menopause Society’s Advanced Certificate in Menopause Care. She is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School.

Around one in three women who raise menopause symptoms with a GP is prescribed HRT, and some wait years for treatment that would have helped from the start. That gap is the reason this clinic exists. Dr Seepana’s appointments are long enough to take a proper history, work through what is actually happening and why, and arrive at a plan that fits your circumstances, whether that involves hormone therapy or not.

About Dr Seepana

Dr Seepana holds an MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She completed advanced training in obstetrics and gynaecology in the Yorkshire Deanery before choosing to become a GP, in order to provide more holistic care across the whole of a woman’s life rather than a single episode of it.

She holds MRCGP, the Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, and a Certificate in Diabetes Care. She has completed advanced menopause training with the British Menopause Society and holds their Advanced Certificate in Menopause Care, which qualifies her to manage complex and difficult menopause presentations. Her practice follows British Menopause Society and NICE guidance.

She is a GP Partner at SLC Medical Group in Grimsby and appears on the British Menopause Society’s register of menopause clinics.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Seepana is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School, where she has been repeatedly recognised for teaching, winning the Phase II and III Tutor of Excellence Award in 2024. She also speaks publicly on women’s health locally.

Outside medicine she is an advocate of physical activity for wellbeing, and plays badminton, runs, and enjoys yoga and dance.
