Mr Ganapathy Dhanasekar is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon at HMT St Hugh’s Hospital in Grimsby. He treats the full range of adult ENT conditions and holds specialist interests in rhinology, endoscopic sinus surgery, facial plastic surgery and thyroid surgery.

Patients come to Mr Dhanasekar with everything from long-standing sinus problems and blocked noses to snoring, hearing concerns, neck lumps and thyroid disorders. His approach is to explain clearly what is happening, set out the realistic options, and make sure you understand what each one involves before anything is decided. Surgery is one route, not the only one, and a good number of his patients are managed successfully without it.

About Mr Dhanasekar

Mr Dhanasekar trained in every aspect of ENT surgery on the West Midlands Specialist Registrar training scheme, including specialist training in thyroid surgery. Before settling into the Birmingham rotation, he worked across much of the UK, taking posts in Portsmouth, Leicester, Derby, Stevenage, Huddersfield, Basingstoke and Wigan. That breadth is part of why he is comfortable across such a wide range of adult ENT presentations.

He went on to complete a Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery fellowship at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham under Professor Nick Jones and Mr Anshul Sama, two of the most respected names in UK rhinology. He has also undertaken travelling fellowships with leading rhinology and facial plastic surgeons in Portland in the United States, Amsterdam and Zurich.

Alongside his general ENT practice, Mr Dhanasekar has particular expertise in thyroid disorders, salivary gland disease and the diagnosis of head and neck cancers. He is on the GMC Specialist Register (GMC number 4670506).
