Mr Gupta is a senior substantive Consultant Ophthalmologist working at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust for the last 13 years. He is also the Clinical Director for head and neck for the Trust for nearly 4 years. His previous experience includes working in Sheffield and Moorfields Eye Hospital where he successfully completed a fellowship in glaucoma.

He is recognised nationally in the field of glaucoma and is also a Honorary Secretary for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists where he plays a role in the delivery of Ophthalmology services across the UK including defining standards of care. He is also an examiner for three Royal colleges and a member of national and international societies. He has won local and national awards which include outstanding leader, outstanding team and the Allergan glaucoma achievement award. He manages patients of all aspects of ophthalmology but specialises in Glaucoma and high volume cataract surgery. Regular audits show that his complication rate is well below the national average and his clinical and surgical outcomes are very high.

Mr Gupta has over 40 publications in peer reviewed journals and has had multiple poster and oral presentations in national and international conferences. This includes the NICE Glaucoma Commissioning Guidance and the Low Vision Framework.
