Mr Prabhakar Motkur is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Upper Limb Surgeon at HMT St Hugh’s Hospital in Grimsby. He specialises in shoulder and upper limb surgery and general trauma, and treats the common musculoskeletal problems of both the upper and lower limb. He has around thirty years of experience in trauma and orthopaedic surgery and has been a consultant since 2007.

Shoulders are unforgiving. They are the most mobile joint in the body, which is exactly why they go wrong in so many different ways, and why an accurate diagnosis matters before anyone decides what to do. Mr Motkur has a high-volume shoulder and upper limb practice, which means the unusual presentation is rarely unfamiliar. About Mr Motkur

Mr Motkur holds a Master’s Degree in Orthopaedic Surgery from India and came to the UK for further specialist training. He completed his basic surgical rotation in the Bristol area, then undertook Higher Surgical Training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in the Wessex region, based around Southampton.

He went on to complete sub-specialist fellowship training in Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgery at the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire, before being appointed to a consultant post in 2007. He has practised as a consultant at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston since then.

His specialist interests are shoulder and upper limb surgery and general trauma surgery. He runs a high-volume upper limb practice, performing several hundred shoulder and upper limb procedures a year including both arthroscopic and joint replacement surgery, alongside general trauma work. He also has considerable experience with upper limb sports injuries.

Alongside the upper limb, he treats the common musculoskeletal problems of the lower limb, giving him a broad general orthopaedic practice as well as a defined sub-specialty.
